Before Namibia’s independence we formed part of the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa. With Namibia’s independence in 1988 we became independent too.

The PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY of NAMIBIA (PSN) is the professional body for pharmacists and pharmacy, we promote pharmacy to ensure pharmacists are recognized and trusted within the NAMIBIAN Healthcare System and wider society, as the experts in medicines governance, information and management. We make sure the voice of the pharmacy profession is heard in the development and maintenance of healthcare policy, we promote the advancement of science practice and education in pharmacy.

The Society provides its members with the support and development they need to fulfill their professional potential. and addresses the issues that are important to members to enrich their job satisfaction and professional rewards. The PSN encourages policies the ensure the sustainability of pharmacy, we educate health professionals, the public and patients on the safe and effective use of medicines, we provide student loan accounts to facilitate the study of pharmacy, and we are actively involved in Conducting Professional Development (CPD) for pharmacists.

The PSN's Objectives are as follows:

  1. To promote the professional, educational and economic interests of the members of the Society and the pharmaceutical profession.
  2. To uphold and improve the professional integrity and standards of professional conduct of members of the Society.
  3. To provide a communication platform within the pharmacy profession, as well as other healthcare professionals.
  4. To improve, promote and maintain the image of the profession.
  5. To represent the views and interests of the members in all pharmaceutical matters, which includes dealings with government and other similar agencies.
  6. To uphold and assist in the promotion and maintenance of the health of the people in Namibia through the provision of a safe and dependable pharmaceutical service; including the optimal and responsible use of medicines.
  7. To provide and promote benefits to its members and to all such matters that may advance the interest of its members.
  8. To recognize the diversity of the population of Namibia by promoting the participation of all sectors of the Namibian community in the Society's activities
